About the event
There will be a series of events that Ring 101 will be attending to bring awarness to the effort to honor Joe "Old Master" Gans the first ever African American Boxing Champion of the world. He was born and raised in Baltimore city. Joe worked on the eastern shore shucking oysters and though best known for being the First African American Light weight champion of the world, he was also a prominent business man. He owned his own Hotel and was a pillar of the Sandtown Community, Baltimore City. To honor his achievements as a fighter and status as a role model Ring 101 is fundraising to honor him with a Wall Mural in Baltimore city and to errect a Statue for all to see.
